Male Lineage

The male lineage or Y-STR paternal lineage test can confirm a father-son relationship by determining if a child is related to an alleged father's other male relative, for example, his brother, father, or grandfather.

LEGAL TESTS

When should I use a legal male lineage test?

The Y chromosome is passed from father to son and it may remain the same through generations. The Y-STR test can help determine a father-son relationship and the Y-STR test can also help to establish a biological relationship between other tested males.

What type of sample is collected in a legal test?

The most common sample type is a buccal swab. This sample is collected using a cotton swab that is gently rubbed on the inside of your cheek. Blood samples are also acceptable.
